Food Trends for 2017-What can you Expect?

New food trends are just like any other fad in that they come with a great deal of excitement and buzz. Whether you are a foodie or just enjoy trying new dishes, you will want to experience a few of the following items that are expected to remain top sellers throughout 2017.

#1. Beer Gardens

An increase in craft beer sales has resulted in more and more people visiting beer gardens. As a result, establishments such as Constitution Yards along Wilmington, Delaware’s riverfront are springing up all across the country. A number of brewpubs are also expanding to include outdoor dining space that can double as a beer garden.

#2. Poke

Poke is a traditional Hawaiian dish that is sometimes referred to as “raw fish salad.” It may be served as an appetizer or main dish, and generally includes some type of raw fish such as tuna along with onions, seaweed, and sesame seeds. New variations that include avocado in ginger sauce or spicy tuna are now popping up in eateries across the country, resulting in many people experiencing this dish for the very first time.

#3. Homemade Charcuterie

For those who enjoy processed meat products such as ham, salami, and bacon, but are concerned about what might be in them, homemade charcuterie is a popular alternative. A number of delicatessens are now offering handcrafted meats along with sides of homemade pickles and fresh-baked bread for a one-of-a-kind flair. Charcuterie boards have become a favorite among the catering crowd, and are highly sought after as an alternative to traditional deli or cheese platters.

#4. Gourmet Ramen Noodles

Ramen noodles are no longer something that broke college students survive on. They have now become the mainstay of gourmet dishes that include ingredients such as charshu or roasted pork, kimchee, kikurage mushrooms, and more. Served along with many chicken and seafood dishes, you’ll hardly recognize them as being the same noodles you might normally purchase by the caseload at the grocery store.

#5. French Cuisine

Industry experts believe that French Cuisine will make a startling comeback in the near future. In particular, French-style breads and pastries are expected to be highly sought after, particularly those baked by hand with so-called “ancient grains” such as spelt.

#6. Cauliflower

As people become more health conscious, they are looking for new ways to enjoy vegetable dishes. Hailed for its versatility, cauliflower is becoming the go-to choice for a number of foodies these days. Cauliflower is being combined with onions, cheese, zucchini and more to create hearty appetizers and snacks that will satisfy even the pickiest appetites. Those who might not otherwise try this vegetable are changing their tune after trying a delicious plate of fried cauliflower accompanied by some creamy bleu cheese dressing.

These are just a few food trends that are expected to remain popular throughout 2017. If any of the above have your mouth watering, head on down to your favorite restaurant so you can enjoy them before new food trends cause them to completely disappear.
