Boston is home to dozens of burger joints, and many of them offer delicious alternatives to traditional fast food. Here, you can learn about five of the best places to get a burger in the Greater Boston Area, including their most popular menu items.
#1 – Boston Burger Company
This iconic Boston staple is located on Boylston Street, and it’s known for some of its wacky (albeit delicious) topping combinations. For example, the Mac Attack is a burger piled high with macaroni and cheese, and the 420 Burger comes with fried macaroni and cheese, jalapeno poppers, mozzarella sticks, fries, onion rings, cheese, bacon, and barbecue sauce. They’re happy to make a burger to your liking, whether you prefer a variety of toppings or a burger that’s actually done medium rare.
#2 – JM Curley
Located on Temple Place, this gastropub is a true delight. You can get burgers, beer, and cocktails in an excellent atmosphere with friendly service. One of their claims to fame is the Prime Burger, which is 10 ounces of beef topped with pickles, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, and a Russian dressing that’s made in-house. It’s one of the best burgers in the city, especially when paired with one of the pub’s delicious craft beers.
#3 – The Gallows
The Gallows has an atmosphere to suit the name, but it’s certainly fun and not at all morbid. They offer a unique menu that’s incredible, which includes the “Our Way Burger” – a grilled patty with American cheese, grilled onions, lettuce, and pickles made in-house served on a grilled, buttered roll. They also offer a nightly “Out of Control” item which is perfect for those who like to live on the wild side.
#4 – Uburger
Uburger, located on Beacon Street, is the place to go when you want a veggie burger that will tantalize your taste buds. There’s the Veggie Boom Burger packed with so much flavor, it’s hard to believe it’s vegan at all. There’s also a double stack with jalapenos and banana peppers that offers a perfect combination between beef and spice – and a whole lot of mouth-watering goodness, too. The best part about Uburger is that you can build your own burger with whatever you’d like and make it your own.
#5 – Cafeteria Boston
This little restaurant located on Newbury Street is dedicated to providing some of the best food in town, and it shows. They source food locally and use only organic products whenever possible. A good example? Their Boston Cream burger is made with grass-fed beef, habanero spiked cream cheese, Vermont cheddar cheese, and caramelized onions. It’s been ranked the best burger in town on several occasions. The more traditional Cafeteria Burger comes with crispy fried onions and chipotle barbeque sauce, which is the perfect blend of smoky, sweet, and spicy.
#6 – Wahlburgers
Let’s face it, the Wahlbergs are synonymous when it comes to Boston and their highly successful burger restaurant, Wahlburgers is become insanely popular in the Boston area and even beyond.
If you’re looking for a great burger in Boston, any of these places can satisfy your craving. Other notable restaurants include Bukowski Tavern on Dalton Street, The Haven on Perkins Street, Hillstone Restaurant on State Street, and The Avenue located on Commonwealth Avenue.
